Is your copy of MassConfusion The Dungeon of Dr. Demento fake?

A number of years ago an Ebay seller called "dndplayer" was selling fakes of this module and a few others items such as MassConfusion Condo of Dr Demento, MassConfusion Torture Tower and Gamelords The Tavern and The Phantastical Phantasmagorical Montie Haul Dungeon. An authentic/original Dungeon of Dr. Demento is a very rare module with about 5 known copies out there. While the exact number of fakes that were sold is unknown a good guess would be 50+ copies. A number of collectors bought this to add to their collects and some resellers bought multiple copies. Noble Knight at one time also had these listed for sale. The Tavern and Montie Haul Dungeon were easy to spot, the covers were on a completely different coloured paper. Dungeon of Dr. Demento was copied on a brighter white paper.

• The paper of a fake is a fairly bright white compared with an original.
• The staples of a fake are typical home use staples that are much thinner than on the original. You can also check the back to make sure there is a very nice curl on the staple.
• The fakes are a scanned and printed copy of an original so measurements of title length etc may be slightly different.
• Check the interior pages. Again here a fake will have dark black ink. Also, since it is the scan or an original, the scan will likely have scanned parts of the original that were faded or have flaws.
